Anish Kapoor
Anish Kapoor is considered one of the most important and influential artists working today.
Perhaps best known for his public sculptures—adventurous both in their forms and engineering—Kapoor moves fluidly across vastly different scales and a wide variety of works. Immense PVC skins, stretched or deflated; concave or convex mirrors whose reflections attract and engulf the viewer; niches carved into stone and pigmented so as to disappear: these voids and protrusions evoke profound metaphysical polarities of presence and absence, concealment and revelation.
Forms turn inward, like a womb, and materials are not painted but saturated with color, as if denying the idea of an external surface, inviting the viewer into the inner depths of the imagination
