Daniel Libeskind
Daniel Libeskind is an internationally renowned architect and urban designer, known for projects that evoke cultural memory while combining emotion, intellectual rigor, and sustainability.
Born in Łódź, Poland, in 1946, he moved to the United States as a teenager. He initially pursued a career in music before studying architecture at The Cooper Union (1970) and later earning a postgraduate degree in the history and theory of architecture from the University of Essex (1972).
He gained international recognition in 1989 after winning the competition for the Jewish Museum Berlin. Among his most important projects are the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, the Denver Art Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, and the master plan for the World Trade Center redevelopment in New York (2003).
Founder of Studio Libeskind, based in New York, he leads an international practice active worldwide, maintaining a focused and highly collaborative approach to design.
He has received numerous international honors and lives in New York with his wife and business partner, Nina Libeskind.
