Estudio Campana
Co-founded in 1984 by brothers Fernando Campana (1961) and Humberto Campana (1953), Studio Campana has gained international recognition for its intriguing furniture and design pieces. In 2019, the studio celebrated its 35th anniversary, acknowledged as a pioneer of disruptive design that has led to the creation of an innovative language in their field.
Deeply rooted in Brazilian culture and traditions, their work brings universal values—such as freedom and human dignity—to the forefront, shaping their identity through lived experiences. Embracing transformation and reinvention, their creative process elevates everyday materials to a noble status. Brazilian characteristics—such as an abundance of color, hybridization, and creative chaos—lead to the poetic triumph of simple solutions.
Based in São Paulo, Campana constantly explores new possibilities in design: from furniture production to architecture, landscaping, fashion, scenography, and beyond. Connecting disciplines and encouraging exchanges between communities and artists serve as vital sources of inspiration, fresh repertories, and free thinking. Collaborations with various brands and industries allow them to combine the best of craftsmanship, sustainable production practices, and advanced technologies.
In 2002, Campana began creating a line of limited editions and unique pieces, handcrafted in their São Paulo studio. These special editions are represented by international galleries, including Friedman Benda in New York, Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London and San Francisco, Galleria Giustini/Stagetti in Rome, and Firma Casa in São Paulo, as well as Galeria Luciana Brito, which began representing Campana in Brazil in 2022.
Campana’s pieces are part of the permanent collections of renowned cultural institutions such as the Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo, and the Vitra Design Museum.
The Campana brothers are currently listed among the world’s leading iconic architects by Interni (2018). In 2015 and 2014, Wallpaper ranked them among the 100 most important and 200 greatest design professionals, respectively. In 2013, Forbes included them among the 100 most influential Brazilian personalities.
